Product Info
Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive is a unique blend of ceramic microspheres, which can be mixed together with any type of paint in order to create a radiant barrier for various structures including homes, warehouses, and metal buildings. This powder-like substance stems from the technology developed in 1996 from the NASA Technology Exchange Program, in which scientists created a protective coating for the NASA Space Shuttle and other space vehicles. The innovative coating reflected the heat encountered when these space vehicles made their re-entry into the atmosphere.
This heat reflecting technology is now available for residential use through Insuladd’s various products, including the Radiant Barrier Coating, Thermal Block Interior Primer, and the Thermal Block Ceramic Paints. When mixed with paint and applied to the interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and roof of a structure, it can reduce energy usage by up to 20 percent.
The way it works is when the paint dries, the microspheres pack together to form an insulating barrier. The coating then reflects any absorbed solar or radiant heat away from the surface instead of retaining it.
Compared to conventional insulation like fiberglass, cellulose, rock wool and Styrofoam, Insuladd wins hands down because those materials cannot reflect radiant energy, which accounts for as much as 93 percent of summer heat gain and up to 75 percent winter heat loss. Those materials allow walls, ceilings and roofs to absorb heat rather than reflect it.
The R-Value, which is the ability to resist heat flow, of your home will also dramatically increase with the addition of Insuladd because it will assist in the thermal reflectance of your conventional insulation. By reducing the heat transfer in your home, the R-Value of your insulation directly increases.
Insuladd Energy Saving Paint Additive reflects heat from the outside in order to keep your home cool during the hot months, but also helps keep heat inside the house during the colder months. This paint additive acts as a thermal protective covering for your home. And as powerful as this paint additive is, it does not disrupt the appearance or quality of the paint.
Our products, including the Insuladd E-Coat, which have earned the EPA Energy Star qualification for energy efficiency, can make your home more energy efficient and environmentally friendly while also lowering your home’s energy costs.
