How Insuladd Paints and Additives Work

Insuladd® is a unique, patented ceramic paint additive that you mix in with ordinary house paint to insulate and reflect heat. During warm summer months Insuladd® works by reflecting heat and reducing the amount of heat capable of passing into your home through walls, ceilings, and attics. During the cold winter months Insuladd® reflects heat back into the living areas of your home instead of allowing the heat to be absorbed by your ceilings and walls where it will be lost out to the cold outside air.

Insuladd® is the original NASA Technology Exchange Program developed insulating paint additive specifically designed for use in interior house paint and exterior house paint. As an outgrowth of NASA developments for the space shuttle, special ceramic technology was created and Insuladd® insulating additive for paint is an the unique outgrowth and modification of that technology.

(Hollow microspheres that many companies sell on the internet and make great energy savings claims for are absolutely worthless for adding to paint in hopes of getting energy savings performance gains!)

You use heat reflecting window film to protect your home from summer heat gain and winter heat loss. Insuladd® puts a protective shield on the rest your home!

Conventional insulation materials like fiberglass, cellulose, rock wool and Styrofoam, no matter how thick, have almost no ability to block radiant heat energy which can account for as much as 93 percent of summer heat gain and up to 75 percent winter heat loss in conventional structures.

These products are only designed to slow down (resist) conduction heat energy, they do not reflect heat! Insulation once saturated with heat will simply allow remaining heat to pass through. Ever notice in the summer, its 10 PM or so and you touch one of the walls in your home that butts up to the outside, the sun has been down for hours but the wall is still Hot!  That’s because the wall has been absorbing heat all day and is passing it through the wall to the inside of your home. In the winter time this works in reverse and the heat from your heater and fireplace get absorbed by your walls and pass through your walls to the outside.

Insuladd® is the only product of its kind proven over and over again to be able to make house paint reflect heat and perform as a radiant barrier.

The Insuladd® insulating additive forms a thermally reflective yet invisible reflecting barrier which quickly radiates any absorbed solar or radiant heat back from the surface to which it has been applied instead of retaining or absorbing it.

When applied on a building interior Insuladd® will reflect heat back into the structure and greatly reduce heat loss in winter, heat that would normally be lost to the cold outside air.

Insuladd® insulating additive for paint is the basis for all of our energy-efficient coatings which work bi-directionally: heat is reflected away from the roof and exterior walls in summer and interior heat is reflected back into the building in winter, increasing energy savings year-round.

Insuladd® products such as Insuladd® E-Coat Insulating roof coating have earned the EPA Energy Star qualification for energy efficiency.

Insuladd® insulating additive for paint does not change the appearance of paint, only the way it reflects heat.

Insuladd® insulating paints and additives are simple, affordable and highly effective and will work for you winter or summer, year after year! Insuladd® products will save you money on your heating and cooling bills.

The improvements to a homes effective insulation value after the use of Insuladd® are indisputable. You won’t want your next home painting project to be done without Insuladd®.

Because it works during the summer and during the winter, Insuladd® will increase the efficiency of your home by reducing that unwanted heat flow or heat flux through your homes walls and ceilings.

Insulation values are known as the “R-Value” which is the ability to resist heat flow. Insuladd® thermal reflectance help’s improve the effective R-Value of your conventional insulation by reflecting heat and reducing heat transfer resulting in less work for your insulation. The higher the R-Value, the greater the resistance to heat flow. Adding a heat reflector such as Insuladd® enhances the effectiveness of whatever R-Value you presently have in your home’s walls and ceilings.
